Irfan Pathan Deals with Most Unique Challenge in his Cricket Career

Irfan Pathan, the popular Jammu and Kashmir’s player cum mentor recently made headlines as he is preparing for the upcoming domestic season. As of now, the player is dealing with the most exceptional challenge of his long cricketing career. He is seeking to actively take part in the preparations for the upcoming domestic season. The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association [JKCA] placed the ads on local Television channels in order to remain in touch with their isolated players from the valley.

As the Government has constrained the communication in Kashmir valley after the abolition of the provisions of Article 370, there is no way to communicate with the players from J and K. As part of the special status to the state, Jammu and Kashmir have now become a Union Territory. During an interview, Irfan Pathan said, ‘The biggest challenge for us is that we are not able to contact players in Kashmir and its districts. We are in touch with the Jammu players.’

Irfan is the popular player and he played 29 Tests and 120 ODIs for India in his cricket career. He further said that the current situation in Kashmir has unfastened the major gains that were done by the team in a fitness camp actually supervised by the former Indian cricket team trainer Sudarshan VP in the month of June. The domestic season will get carried out in the subsequent month with the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

As there is no possibility to contact the players in Jammu and Kashmir, it has become difficult to continue their drive. Some of the names of the players include Parveez Rasool, Pathan, JKCA CEO Ashiq Ali Bukhari, and administrator CK Prasad. On Tuesday, they finally met these players in order to look after for the solution.

The 34-year old player said, ‘So we put the ad there hoping the selected boys can join the camp in Jammu. We put it out yesterday and we can’t expect everyone to respond in one day. It will take at least two to three days. It is a very unique situation. I have never been involved in anything like this before.’ Most players were planning to leave the game, said Irfan.
