An athlete Spain has created history. He became the first and the only man to paddleboard 2,900 miles solo across the large Pacific Ocean just to raise awareness, that is to make people aware, about ocean protection and plastic pollution. His name is Antonio De La Rosa and he completed the solo voyage from San Fransisco to Hawai in 76 days on his 24-foot custom made paddleboard.
The Ocean Defender is the name of his paddleboard and it had slogans written on it, which says – “SAVE the OCEAN, NO plastics, NO nets, RECYCLE”.
The back end of his board had storage compartments in which he carried food and necessary tools for his journey, while the front part of it is provided with sleeping quarters.

According to a report, the 50-year-old adventurer described the journey as one of “absolute loneliness and self-sufficiency”.
The wind and weather were not always in De La Rosa’s favour, even though he came across incredible marine life. It was also reported that he found it difficult to keep his boat on course because of strong winds and bad weather conditions.

Omg! People complaining it’s not a paddle board. It’s the same concept just design to accommodate for the long trip. If it was a regular one he wouldn’t make it 5 miles out to sea. He did it all standing up paddling just like a regular one anyways!

On 9th of June this year, Rosa started his expedition and also documented the entire journey with GoPro cameras. The cameras reportedly cost him around One Lakh Dollars. He also posted various updates about his journey on his Facebook account too and the adventurer also celebrated his 50th birthday at sea only. De La Rosa had previously crossed the Atlantic Ocean in a canoeing vessel.
